What Makes Us Different From Other Styles?

We define martial arts as a self-defense elevated to a scientific and philosophical art, based on the study of human anatomy and psychology and the laws of nature. It is a combination of mathematics, science, and art used quickly and proficiently to defend yourself. In studying causes and effects, we can learn to control the way a human acts and reacts, especially when it comes to fighting.

Our school teaches a blend of freestyle and traditional martial arts, which means that we are flexible enough to freely identify, learn, and adopt good ideas and training concepts, incorporating the best techniques from many different styles while keeping with the solid foundation that tradition has built. Unlike many martial arts, we do not suffer from “my way is the only way” of thinking. We look at techniques from virtually any style or system, and if it works on the street, we will use it. This allows us to optimize self-defense for modern weapons and for a variety of body types, both male and female, from children to the elderly. It is not that the person fits to the style, but rather the style fits the person; this is how you progress. We absorb venerable traditions into this style by clothing them with fresh garments and building on the classic styles to create better forms. Our evolving style allows for those techniques to be constantly tested and evaluated.

In addition, we do not follow the religious aspects found in many martial arts, such as Taoism found in kung fu. However, we do emphasize developing strong integrity, high moral principles, and non-violent resolutions to end a conflict.
